18 storey medium cost apartment |
The site located besides Jalan Pudu Ulu, adjacent to rows
of existing terrace houses, approximately 500m from Bangunan PGRM, Cheras along Jalan Pudu
Ulu and 500m from Stadium Badminton Cheras.
The project consists of 1 Block of 18-storey building with a total of 268
units of medium cost house with car parks and utilities at ground floor. |

Medium cost apartment construction stage |
One wing of the building is founded on sandy ground while
the other was on soft clay with suspected localised slime. The piling foundation is with
combination of 200x200, 300x300 and 400x400 RC piles for overall economical design.
Project commenced on Feb 2003. Due to the contractors deviation from the instruction
of no mass excavation for pilecap excavation, the installed piles were disturbed on one
wing. In solving this major site problem, extensive PDA test with detail supervision and
as-built surveys has been carried out for piles with the objective of maximising the
salvation of disturbed piles, with pleasing outcome. |

Those unusable piles are compensated with new piles and the
method of pile compensation is designed using in-house pilecap program, where economical
design is achieved after performing many options for each design and evaluating the
auto-generated cost data for each option. Drawings for compensation piles complete with
performance specifications have been produced in short time in view of urgency. To reduce
the chance of encountering similar problem subsequently, one wing of the building platform
level has been raised up to minimise excavation. Additional raised suspended RC driveway
slab on piles has been introduced. Deep liftwall pilecap was excavated using cofferdam
method.
The building was monitored for settlement through out the construction
period. |

The general building shape is L shape on plan. The
high-rise structural stability is provided by beam-column frames. All apartment units have
been economically designed with 100mm thick slab.
The building was fully completed in May 2005. Certification for occupation by DBKL was
obtained on 28th July 2005.
